A New Beginning

How do I start a blog that ends an almost three month journey through four countries, & over dozens of explored cities?
Better question: how do I share my stories, feelings and experiences I’ve had with others when I am back home?

What are those things covering the sky?? I thought to myself as I was making my way in the darkness of the night back to my tent. Those are stars and constellations I have never seen before! The specks of fire just blew up the sky over West Sussex, which was my only source of light to guide me back to the camping grounds.

If I had to choose any other way as to how I would spend my last week abroad I wouldn’t have changed one thing. I spent four days in the middle of the countryside in Shoreham-by-the-Sea, England camping at an event called David’s Tent. It was a time… No a gift that I was given to have quiet and freedom to relax, worship God and process my life.

I won’t lie, going back to the States will be difficult for me. After being gone for months on a travel excursion and then going back to a routine… It makes me a bit nervous. I’ve adapted to this lifestyle. I’ve waited for years to backpack and now I see that it is over.

So now what?

Home is not where the journey ends. As cliche as it sounds, it is true… Home is another beginning of a different kind of journey.
I promise I will keep writing in this blog. I will continue to post updates.

I’ll be home now, but the travel bug will always be in my veins. I can’t wait to see where I go next!

For now, I go home…

  1. Hi Melissa! What a wonderful experience you have had, traveling the world. I have enjoyed reading about your travels and taking in all of the beautiful pictures … so many memories for you to treasure … always. I’m praising God for keeping you safe while He allowed you to enjoy each day these past several months. You have been in my prayers and now I can thank Him for answering them. I’m sure it will be a challenging transition, returning to a daily routine. But don’t worry! Set your eyes on what God has in store for you next. This trip has been one small part of your lifelong journey. The experience opened your eyes and allowed you to grow in ways you likely never imagined … only to prepare you for whatever is next. Can’t wait to see you and give you a welcome home hug, and of course, three kisses! ~ Janine
